Pine Lake Elementary is the Environmental Science Center.

History and Background

Pine Lake Elementary School was built in 1977. It is located on 9.13 acres in southwest Miami-Dade County at 16700 SW 109th Avenue. Our School consists of one two story structure with open pod classrooms in the main building and one portable classroom. Pine Lake Elementary was completely renovated in 1994 to repair damage caused by Hurricane Andrew. At that time, a one-story wing was added. Achievement

Our students have excelled on the administration of the 2008-2009 FCAT test. Results show that 67 percent have demonstrated high standards in reading, which is an increase of 10 percentage points over 2007-2008 test results, and 64 percent have demonstrated high standards in mathematics, an increase of 6 percentage points over the 2007-2008 test results. On the fourth grade writing skills test, student performance increased from 71 percent in 2007-2008 to 91 percent in 2008-2009. Fifth graders also posted learning gains showing an increased mastery in science from 34 percent in 2007-2008 to 41 percent in 2008-2009.
